Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake - Disney Recipes at Home!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake

50's Prime Time Café, Disney's Hollywood Studios
If you've ever eaten at the 50's Prime Time Café, you'll know that you'll feel like you've been transported back in time to the set of your favorite 50's sitcom (or, if you're of the proper age, possibly to your mom's kitchen, or, like me, your grandma's kitchen).  Being treated like a kid is part of the whole experience, and just like being a kid in the idealized 50's, a clean dinner plate means one thing: dessert.

At the Prime Time Café, most everything on the menu is an American standard, and dessert is no different.  Dessert, however, does occasionally feature a twist, like this take on peanut butter and jelly - no bread required!  A creamy, sweet, and salty confection that is guaranteed to leave you happy and satisfied.  You don't need to go to Hollywood Studios to get this treat, though, if it's a bit of a trip, you can put it together in your own kitchen!
The usual suspects

Yield:

1-2 Servings (1 large milkshake)

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  2. 1/4 cup milk
  3. 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  4. 2 tablespoons grape jelly*
  5. Whipped cream (optional)
  6. Maraschino cherry (optional)

*If you have a different preference in jelly, feel free to use that instead - the 50's Prime Time Cafe uses grape jelly for theirs.
Oh, hey, bread - we're not going to need to for this PB&J...

Well, now I feel bad... but let's carry on.  Bread will be okay, I'm sure.

Directions

1. Measure out your ingredients - normally, this is a natural step, but I wanted to include the note that you really need to pack the ice cream into your measuring cup to make sure you get 2 cups, since if you're just scooping, you're going to get a lot of air in the cup, and end up with a less creamy shake.

2. Place ice cream, milk, peanut butter, and jelly into blender.

3. Blend on high for 20-30 seconds, or until desired texture is achieved.

4. Pour into tall milkshake glass.

5. Top with desired amount of whipped cream and cherry.

6. Stick a straw in it and enjoy!

Don't worry, bread - I'll need you again soon!
